What is the Hawaii Youth Powered Education Designers?

The Hawaii Youth Powered Education Designers (HYPED) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, whose mantra is youth powered advocacy. Currently, we are a group of Hawaii educators passionate about creating a Youth Advisory Board who will design magical learning experiences for Hawaii's youth.

Wee are building a network of educators to support a learner-centered approach to education.

Currently, our main effort is on supporting the Music Olympics, a FREE in-person and virtual solo and ensemble collaborative program open to brass, percussion, piano, string, voice and woodwind participants in grades k-12. We encourage young musicians to create teams with mixed grade levels, instrumentation, and schools. 

We are also organizing the 2nd annual Education Hoʻolauleʻa (formerly Hawaiʻi Teacher Celebration) which celebrates the hard work of each and every person in our schools who passionately supports education - counselors, custodial staff, front office staff, educational assistants, part-time teachers, administrators, coordinators, teachers, and students! Kaneohe Elementary will be hosting the 2026 celebration! More details for 2026 will be announced soon.
